Or we could just post in the thread that already exists about roll searching, no? http://www.cointalk.com/t10176/
I've only searched 15 penny rolls, but I've found 2 1995 D, a 1989 D, and 2 1985 D pennies, all about MS67. I've found another 10 pennies about MS65-66.
The Roll Searching thread seems to primarily consist of "searching for silver results" posts these days, and I like the idea of both this and the dime searchers to hear what errors and varieties others might be finding. IMHO I think it's a great learning tool to have a thread where others can get an idea of what to look for. It's difficult to get good search results because specific information is usually buried in threads that are difficult to narrow down unless you do a google search. But those are just my thoughts and experiences, maybe others are having better luck....
What about adding Lincoln cents too? Except for wheaties, you don't really find anything else in rolls....
I agree that thread is way to long. The mods should just add a roll searchers section. It could be broken down by coin: cent's, halves, dime, nickel, and dollars.
Just did a bank box, not my best ever but got about 2 lbs of copper and 15 wheaties. I do check for 1995 DD, 1972 DD, and the Wide AM's. My best find ever for pennies was a 1882 indian head cent and it is in XF condition. I have also found lots od 20's and 30's cents too!
I agree that the roll-searching thread is long, I never bothered to read most of it. I just joined in and followed along from there... no real need exists to read the first 450 or whatever pages of the thread, it's just there in case you get really bored, I guess. The matter of the fact is that it's there for roll searchers to discuss their finds, and it's fine. While I agree that a roll-searching forum would probably be a solid addition to CT's current setup, it doesn't appear that Peter is very keen on that, and that is a reality that needs to be accepted.
Lots of oddly stricken cents, you know, the kind with an uneven collar (or nonexistent on one side, in some cases). Not sure what the technical name for it is. I have no idea what they're worth, if anything at all, but they're quirky and I like them. I've also found a handful of wheaties, the oldest being a 1919, and badly worn.
Yes i know about roll searches and posted this because it have more then 15,000 post! and its been here sence 2005.
