I don't know where else to put this, so I will put this here.

    A simple motion;

New users should be limited to being able to start one thread in their first 50 posts, and one thread every 25 posts thereafter until they've been a member for a month, at minimum.

Why do we need a gag rule may I ask?

I like that idea, seems as how we've seen a lot of nonsense threads here lately...(today in specific)

1 for their intro, and then they must wait and learn the rules of thread, so they don't make a thread about 1 thing found roll-serching.....*cough* hint-hint *cough*

All members here are granted free expession, just so long as they don't go over the line or become offensive. I'm still not seeing the reason why our newer members shouldn't be granted the same rights and privileges.....

I'm a newbie on this MB and I'm a mod on another. I dunno if such things are necessary. Newbies by their nature are fumbling around trying to figure out how things are with each message board they go to. Some are very friendly. Some are downright mean.

I've started 2 threads. One saying hi and the next asking about silver unicorn coins from China. If I had to wait then I would never have received some great information on the unicorn coins.

I am brand new to collecting. I have been reading this message board, fumbling through the threads, learning things and even giving my input on where I think I can give input.

Granted, I have have the same problems on the MB where I am a mod. Its annoying, but as I said previously thats the nature of a newbie. They get the hang of it usually. :smile

That is what I thought was so special about this site, everyone helping eachother

Stupidest question is the one that's never asked........

    Kind of related to this.
I know it can't and won't be done, but I think that the roll-searching thread should be limited to collectors. I feel like there's more people now that are just trying to make money finding and selling silver. It kind of irks me to see a person post about just searching $200 in halves, then in the next post asking what a Peace dollar is.
I don't really like to complain, but that's just my 2 cents.

The one thing I like about this forum is that it's not filled with overly pompus stuffed shirt elitists....

When I was a newbie (and I still am), I asked REALLY dumb questions. I haven't really asked a question in a month (I don't really need to). You can look up the answers to most questions on the internet (or cointalk)

When I am being pompous I like to be pompous in moderation.

I am commenting as a member of the forum - not a Moderator ~ How many good threads have there been (and sometimes not so great) that are "I just inherited some coins and I needs some help?" Some of these people need serious advice and may need to start multiple threads based on the collection type. Sometimes there is nonsense posted by many long time members too ~ my self included from time to time. If something is outside the forum rules the mods are here to address it. I want a person to be able to ask questions so they learn from what they don't know or thought they knew. That is what makes this a nice place to come to especially for new collectors or young collectors. Just my thoughts on the subject.

And ~ Many times when I search Google one of the top sites listed with answers is Cointalk. Why would we ever want that to change?

    warning: SARCASM!

How about a rule that you cant reply to threads unless the thread is about a coin that you collect? In other words if you collect dimes you can not comment on cent's.
I have seen many "older" posters make "stupid" post's (Saying coins are junk or PMD) because the coin is not a variety they are familiar with.

Pompacity from one who is not at all pompous. From one who has been anything but.......

Why not tie all of our hands. Gag us to to hilt and then we'll never utter an evidence of stupidity.

Of course, this would be a very quite place at times......:)

Ok, now that is an extremely not to be rude....but dumb suggestion.... How are you ever gonna start to collect a coin if you can't ask questions or comment on one, also what about those of us who collect more than one denomination??

That would be ridicoulos, and I seriously doubt if that ever even will cross the mods mind...
