I was on my weekly thrift store marathon today. At one store, I got a 1974S proof quarter in my change. It looked to be in perfect condition. I put it in my wallet. At my last stop I was 19 cents short, so I spent my proof. No harm, no foul.
Yeah I guess no harm no foul, once it's circulated it's probably only worth a quarter. Now someone else will find it and in a couple days we'll get a new thread that says "I found this strange quarter, is it worth a gazillion dollars?"
What was the condition? I would have used it to fill one of my quarter spots but then, I'm a cheapskate ha ha! Actually I'm filling two of my sets from circulated coins because its a treasure hunt, and more of a challenge than buying them. I was ecstatic to get a nice 71S half in a roll the other day Call me crazy... I do...
