It could be several things, but images would be necessary to give you any worthwhile information. Welcome to CT.
Jennifer, perhaps this could be helpful to you. I remember doing this in Science classes in school. Wasn't as much fun as blowing stuff up but.. was required.
Did you ever find a value to this coin? I also have one of these chrome Penny's. I also have a 1/2 chrime 1/2 copper one.
A lot of cent coins have been altered by plating them with other metals such as chrome , nickel and silver.
I have found the same type of Penny and I'm currently trying to get it authinticated.in fact through a years worth of searching I've found out thru the freedom act that the United States MINT was doing a highly top secret experiment with the changing of the metal content to save money on cooper anyways they were 25 different metal experiments made at the Philadelphia mint.what I've found is that it's a 1964 bronze nickel steel planchet that was supposed to be struck on a NICKLE NOT a penny.so I believe that THIER are a very limited few that remains some was gave out as gifts.like joe biden.he got 1 but voted it down due to child safety.
