Today i went to the bank to get three rolls of nickels. I asked the teller for three rolls of nickels. She kinda stared at me and hesitated before saying ok and pulling out three rolls of nickels. I felt like i was asking for something really out of the normal. Is this usual?? By the way, out of the three rolls, I recieved:

    -4 under 1970 (oldest 1962)
    -5 bison
    -21 foward jefferson
    -3 keelboat
    -2 peace
    -5 ocean

In addition, will it be weird to bring checked rolls of change to the bank and exchange them for other rolls?

Since its your first time you will get some strange looks. But just wait until you get your first $100 case of nickels...the expressions on their face gets priceless.

Most think it's a little strange, but no worries, who cares. If you're going to bring them back to the bank, take them to another bank, or at least another branch, otherwise chances are high you will be rechecking rolls that you've already checked. And it might annoy the tellers. It's always a good idea to keep the tellers on your good side.

Or you could just spend the rolls. Most stores don't have a problem with you paying in change if it's already rolled. That's what I do with my dimes, nickels, and quarters. Sometimes, with small businesses, they're even happy to get them if they're running low. Saves the owner or manager an extra trip to the bank that day. For me, it's just easier to spend them than to go back to the bank. I do this with everything but pennies and halves. Pennies are too bulky to spend like that, and businesses do not like dealing in halves at all, especially not in high volume.

Tellers hate coin collectors around these parts. We are just a hassle to them. Dont dump your coins at the same bank you buy them from if you want them to supply you with more coins in the future. Dump coins at another branch that refuses to give you coins! Ill ask a branch for a few rolls of presidential dollars. If they say they dont have them, Ill ask if they could at least check. Often they will not. Ill come back and ask again..are you sure you dont have any prez dollars? No..well you do now!

I could get rolls when I was growing up, halves, ikes, quarters and the like.. Every weekend especially around the holidays I would hit every bank in town and managed some nice silver.

These days are so much different. I went to a bank wanting several rolls of state quarters a few yrs back and was told I could NOT have any unless I had an actual account...Even the manager stated that "policy" to me and I basically told them, well no worries there as I will NEVER have an account here with those rules nor would I ever recommend them to anyone I know.. So I went to another bank and had no problems..
