Ace 250 for me. I have been primarily hunting the beaches near me. I recently scored a 10 karat plumb ring with 2 diamonds and an amethyst. I am digging my back yard and finding a lot of trash, but learning about my detector in the process. Also, that I don't water the grass enough!!!! You know what I mean if you have ever dug Texas clay when dry, it's like it's been in a kiln!!! DHurst Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have two Garretts. A ground hog, that I have had since 1970's, and a 2500 that I have had for about four years. I find more with the old Ground Hog than I do with the new 2500. Just learn how to use it right. Good hunting. -O)
Detector is on my Christmas list I have an "old" property, and back in the woods is the remains of a foundation.. that is where I'm going to start playing around when Santa surprises me! (and if he doesn't, well, I'll get it myself!) I'll be reading all the pointers between now and then. Without a detector, I've already found old old bottles/jars, which I like. And yes, my list is already made for this coming Christmas!
You guys just need to have Christmas in august before it's to cold to go out!!!!! Although it's almost tooooo hot here to go out!!!! This week highs are 100 for the entire week and we have humidity!!!! Went out yesterday and drenched in sweat and found the following pennies. Looks like they were burned!! Well I finally got one...It's a Bounty Hunter "Lone Star" it was a cheaper one, but I've found a few things.... I live in Florida...it never get's cold...:rollling:
And be grateful for that, Zach! I live in germany, and I can tell you our winters are no fun. Detecting in freezing, wet and dark weather is really not exciting. I have 3 detectors: a Gmaxx (excellent french-made machine), a Minelab Safari (too heavy, and not as good as the Gmaxx), and an Ace 250. We recently took the Ace on our summer vacation in Naples, Fl, hoping to find stuff on the beach. However, we only found loose change. The Ace 250 is not a beach machine, and will not work proprely on wet sand (in our experience). So that is maybe the reason why our finds were so meager. We met an old timer there who was searching waste-deep using a Garrett. He told us he regularly finds interesting jewelry that way.
