TRIVIA: An Error Coin You May Not Know Exists - Episode 32

    The error coin is Columbian silver 1/2 Real. It was struck in 1819 at the Bogato Mint and bears the mintmark MR. This is one of those coins that bears the obverse legend "FERDINAND VII" on its obverse, but features the bust of Charles the IV. That isn't the error.
     
    The error is the mint mark. Coins struck in 1812 at the Bogoto Mint normally bear the mint mark NR (Coin Archives photo):
