Unknown head? Found it in the junk pile. No date. no inscription well worn. Size is about the same as a US 50cent piece. Very thick flan.
my intital thought was that it could be napolean the 3rd but to be honest it could be any one. i mean it even looks like bit like my avatar so i guess im not much help
It's exactly like your avatar. The slope of the forehead with a curl at the top, the curve of the back of the neck with a curl in the middle, the position of the device relative to the whole coin, the (apparent)copper it's made of - everything matches. What is your avatar, and is it the size of a half dollar?
my avitar is a 1827 george IV penny it is just smaller then a half dollar in diameter (by 2.6mm) and only 1mm thinner then a half dollar. and yes it is made from copper. if it is the same i would say that it is a dug example
It does look like your avitar Calum. Man, jlblonde that's one worn coin and to add insult to injury nature "painted" it green...but I still like it. Bruce
I don't know something specific about your piece. I'm quite sure that it is not the same type as calumsherwood's avatar.
You may be right On closer examination, the two do not seem to be quite the same. As a matter of fact, the OP's looks a lot like Bart Simpson's profile.
