Hi all, My grandma gave me some coins when I was about 10, I am now 45 and I still know nothing about these coins. They are two pendants each made from two British coins. One pendant is made with two 1936 one penny coins, the other with 1941 shillings. The hangers appear to be u-shaped wire inserted into holes on the edge and soldered. They seem a bit heavy to be just 2 coins, I wonder if there's something inside. Anybody heard of this being done to coins?
I've never heard or seen this before, but they are neat nonetheless. My guess would be this is the handwork of something creative who wanted a nice necklace.
I have no idea why this was done, but each pendant is two coins fused together. Notice the joint around the edge.
2 fused coins, the 1941 Shilling would have George VI on the obverse if it was a single coin, it has George V so 2 coins for sure, 50% silver.
