Thank you. Only one reply? I suppose everyone agrees with you. I know it's not amazing shape, but I am happy since it is my first VDB of any kind.
VF-30 looks about right to me (even though the pictures are a bit small) unless those right wheats are damaged. In that case, it might net out as fine.
Thanks again for the replies. Those are the sellers pictures. When I have the coin in hand I will try to take some better pictures. Either way, I paid $3.00 for the cent so I am still pleased.
The consensus appears to be that this coin has been cleaned. Can you provide a newbie (me!) with some pointers as to how you can tell this cent has been cleaned? Much thanks! Susan
Look at the high points on Lincoln and how they look a little lighter that the rest..the field above the date seems to have some stricks the back looks fine.
It appears they lightly cleaned the fields and main devices but left a bit where it gets caught around the rim and IGWT. There are a few spots of discoloration that are probably from damage done before or during cleaning, but good deal for 3 bucks! Enjoy it when it comes, and please post your pics when you get it!
It is only worth $7-8 maybe in XF, the Greysheet doesn't reflect how these things fell out of demand.
