    this was written on the back on the back of a 2x2. i had bought coins from the dealer before and this was written on the back on several of them. is this some kind of dealer code?

    It could very well be a dealer code that he uses to write down how much he paid for it to make sure he gets enough out of it. One of the dealers I go to has his own lettering system all worked out too.

    An auctioneer friend of mine used to mark all his merchandise with his cost, using the code "All Good Children Faithfully Eat Their Spinach, Carrots and Broccoli Dinner." A=0, G=1, etc., with lower case letters for cents when needed. $12.95 became GCdt, or $1,295 would be GCDT:D

    anyone have an idea of what 6LQ would be?

    The whole point of that type of coding is that without knowing the key sentence, you don't know what a particular combination means.

    6 Large Quarters? Large quarter meaning $25, so $25 x 6? I have no clue :)

    I've seen many different combinations of letters/numbers from a bunch of different dealers. Never really sat down and thought about it.

    are you sure it's a 6 and not an S? If so,it could stand for Standing Liberty Quarter.(SLQ)
