I have a 50 cent 1st issue fractional currency piece with an inverted back. it is shown in my youtube video 5 minutes into the video i show the error. With research I found that an AU 53 example sold for $1,800 and there is 3 known to exist for this series. But...a photo is necessary because you are asking for value. In order to give an estimate of the value, a grade for the note must be determined. That is why a photo is necessary. Posting a photo of a similar note for grading purposes is basically worthless. I do understand sometimes people are unable to post photos...but the bottom line is, without one your original question can't be answered. Also, I just watched your video...and with youtube videos you lose a lot of image quality. In my opinion, the note can't be graded accurately using the video.
can you please delete this post? I reposted the question and remembered it was featured in one of my youtube videos which is in the new posts link. check it out!
Check your PM. We don't delete posts at CT unless there is strong reason to. The two threads have been merged and the whole topic is in this thread.
There were a few sold on Heritage. Since you have the note in hand, you can compare for pricing. Note that several of the higher dollar ones are "Choice New". Consider that things like bumped/soft corners, creases, folds, stains etc. detract from the value sometimes substantially. You may have to register to view the prices (it's free): http://currency.ha.com/common/search_results.php?Nty=1&Ntk=SI_Titles&Ne=1957&N=56+790+231+1181+4294964471&Ntt=fractional+50
okay: Turn the note, start with the face up. Now flip it right ti left. Is it inverted? If so, you are correct, it is an invert. If so, very scarce item, values probably will be determined by auction.
Definitely inverted, and from the video (as tough as it is to grade) appears to be a higher grade. Truly a nice find, and definitely worth getting graded!
OMG TY YOU MUCH! Thats just what I was looking for. And your right condition is everything but this is AMAZING condition and im not one of those people who say since its old and not destroyed its in amazing condition. I would grade is a 64. Its truely unbelieavable!!
great fine, fractional currency used to be very affordable, value went up quite a bit in recent years, most of yours look cu
Please describe the condition of your note in detail, such as: What condition would you think the note is in? Any major issues? Folds (light or heavy), creases, marks, etc? If you take the note in your fingers and lightly shake it by your ear, does it sound very crispy, slightly crispy, or no crisp at all? These would be indicators of the condition of the note. The link you provided is to a note that is in ChCu condition, thus worth more. Even if you have an inverted error note, the value is more dependent on the grade of the note. Let me know and I'd be more than happy to give you a ballpark figure.
There are no folds, creases, pinholes, tears, discoloration, marks, etc. i would grade the note around 64. it is crisp and not limp and holds its "posture' when held upright. Hope that helps! Also in the previous posts its shown in a video i posted from youtube showing it.
Sorry, I don't have youtube video capabilities while at work. I'll look through the resources this evening and give you a ballpark figure then.
