hi. Fairly new to collecting and in rural PA. Closest dealer about 40 miles away. Would anyone help me with a few questions? One is regarding Austrailian Lunar coins. I am not sure I have some coounterfeit ones but have two different ones.First one has the animal and its English and Chinese name on one side. The other has the animal plus year on left side 1 oz .999 silver below the animal and its chinese name to the right side. I know there are Lunar I and Lunar II. Is this that situation or do I have any counterfeit coins? Thanks

I don't know anything about those coins but just give some time. Somebody will be along to answer your question.

Welcome to the forum btw. :)

The second coin sounds like a Series I coin. Series II they put 'Year of the xxxx", fill in the animal name, under the animal. Pictures would help a lot.

Can anyone answer a question about Lunar coins. I know there are Lunar I and II series. Mind if I describe the two coins because they are distinct? On the side of the animal it includes the date to the left and under the animal is 1 oz and .999. silver and on the right side of the animal is its name in Chinese. On the other side with the Queen there is a mirrored band around her with the words "Elizabeth II Australia and below the Queen it says 1 dollar. The other coin just has the animal with its English name below and Chinese name above. On this second coin on the side of the Queen she has a mirrored finish with a matte background that has Queen Elizabeth II, Australia, and at the bottom 2010 and 1 dollar. Do I have a mixture of Lunar 1 and Lunar II? Is there somewhere I can see the pictures of both series? As I said (whined) before I'm new to collecting and about 40 miles from the closest dealer. Is this enough info for anyone to give me some idea? Regards, Don Mains
