hey guys. before you read any further i want you guys to know that this is a strictly opinion based thread. anyway i got a short term job all this week and im going to be getting about 200 dollars. i have so many options but cant decide so i wanted to know what you guys would do if u were in my situation. i have a local small show in about 3 weeks. the whitman show in november, a few days after my birthday. i also am a silver investor, and im trying to complete a full bu franklin set. i was thinking of buying a bu 49s franklin.
As long as you have no outstanding bills, I'd work on those Franklins! I built my set, and am also thinking of upgrading a few I bought in circulated grades. Frankies were one of the most fun and rewarding series I have ever assembled!
If your taking the entire $200 with you to the show, my suggestion to you is, shop the entire show ( all the tables ) before you make any decisions about a purchase, and negotiate with the Dealer.
yah guys. i love shows and would love to take it to a show. my only question is do i go to the one in august with about 250 in my pocket, and then go to the whitman expo in november with about the same, or do i hold out until novemeber and go to the whitman show with like 500 in my pocket?
:thumb:Just buy what you want to But try to make sure it graded by a TPG. you may want to look in to silver Proof PR-67-69DCam or MS-65FB Roosevelt Dimes there a sleeper I think. :kewl:
OP, I would go to both shows. Big shows can be fun, but many deals also pop up at local shows. If my son told me he wants to complete a Franklin set, buy silver, and was 15, my advice would be as follows: You are only 15, you have your whole life to complete a BU set. Also, a little silver is ok, but again you have your whole life to worry about asset diversification. Right now in life the most important thing is education. If you wish to buy coins, I would suggest getting a type folder and completing it. Not only will it force you to learn about many more series of coins, it will also teach you how different series grade, and broaden your overall knowledge. This knowledge of a broad series of coins will be more valuable in your lifetime of colelcting than any 49s or ounces of silver will ever be. Just my opinion.
i do agree with this to some extent. my only pet peeve i have when someone tells me this is that i also have my whole life to learn and gain knowledge. i would rather buy what i like now, and learn something new all the time along the way. then again if i have knowledge now i will know exactly what i like, what to look for, how to buy, etc. and that will probably pay off in the future. uhh this is why i never can decide what to do haha
