This auction appears to be selling 100 peace dollars for $300? I might be reading it wrong, but I'm not sure. The seller is from the Netherlands, and their feedback is in dutch, so I don't know what is says. The description says you will receive the coins in the picture, but its one picture, and 18 have been sold, so that confuses me as well. And if I've just missed something obvious I would like if it could be pointed out to me http://cgi.ebay.com/100-PEACE-SILVER-DOLLARS-FIVE-FULL-ROLLS-90-/250862213671?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item3a688d9a27#ht_615wt_1173 Thanks, Will:u*meY:
That's very strange. It could have been an error in the listing and the decimal point is in the wrong place but you would have to assume a seller would look more carefully. Then again, you would think the seller would catch the mistake after selling some. He seems to have an unlimited supply and has already sold 19 sets today. That's nearly $6,000 and will likely have a pile of funds in his account by the time anyone could file a complaint. This deal just seems to good to be true and I sincerely doubt you would ever recieve a package from this seller.
Thanks, I wasn't going to order, as things that look to good to be true often are, thanks for your input!
Well, that listing has been removed by eBay. I've notice more rapid responses to these phoney auctions.
It was not an error, that guy has been running that auction over and over. He lifted the picture and description from a legitimate auction and lowered the price. We keep getting him shut down and even banned but he keeps coming back with new ids. (usually he is using highjacked accounts) He typically manages to sell anywhere from 20 to 60 of them every time he runs it. Hopefully they have been able to pull all the money back out of his accounts when they shut him down because Paypal is having to refund the money to all of his "customers". He isn't sending out anything, this is simply a sell 40 lots for $12,000 take the money and run scam. But it takes awhile to get the money out of his paypal account so we have to stay on top of this so paypal can freeze his accounts before he can withdraw the money.
I also noticed that the listing is for 100 coins and that there are 100 available. Best case scenario, the seller would try to pass off each coin for $300 but from the sounds of it, he doesn't even own the coins pictured. I don't understand how this seller expects to get away with this, I assume that paypal would track him down regardless.
