Is this a DDO?

    I'm new to coins and having a hard time telling the difference between true (valuable) doubling and machine doubling. Thanks for the help.

    cant tell by your pictures, though I will go out on a limb and say probably not. More than likely it's MD.

    Thanks, I'll have to try scanning it later. I've found quite a few coins with what appears to be doubling since I started looking a few weeks ago. I look through all coins I get from my register everyday. +/- 2 rolls a day. But, I'm going cross-eyed trying to tell if they're MD or not. What is the best why to tell?

    You might want to invest in the cherry pickers guide, it gives lots of pick up points to check against, and also has a chapter discussing the minting process. It will really help you, at first you might have to keep referring to it, but after a while you will know what to look for.

    I'll order it tomorrow! Thanks for everyones help. Hopefully soon I too can help a newbie get in the right direction.

    It isn't a doubled die. In a doubled die the top images aren't compromised but are fully intact. It's strike doubling. Keep swinging. ;)
