I'm new to coins and having a hard time telling the difference between true (valuable) doubling and machine doubling. Thanks for the help.
cant tell by your pictures, though I will go out on a limb and say probably not. More than likely it's MD.
Thanks, I'll have to try scanning it later. I've found quite a few coins with what appears to be doubling since I started looking a few weeks ago. I look through all coins I get from my register everyday. +/- 2 rolls a day. But, I'm going cross-eyed trying to tell if they're MD or not. What is the best why to tell? Thanks again for your help!
Like Shoe said your pics are a little small and fuzzy. Here's one site that has good info.http://koinpro.tripod.com/Articles/OtherFormsOfDoubling.htm
You might want to invest in the cherry pickers guide, it gives lots of pick up points to check against, and also has a chapter discussing the minting process. It will really help you, at first you might have to keep referring to it, but after a while you will know what to look for.
I'll order it tomorrow! Thanks for everyones help. Hopefully soon I too can help a newbie get in the right direction.
It isn't a doubled die. In a doubled die the top images aren't compromised but are fully intact. It's strike doubling. Keep swinging.
