Wow...this is nuts! I found the 144 this morning. I was at home and decided to run to the store...stopped at two more banks right by home... One had somes halves.... The pic is blurry the pile on the right side is what I found. On any other day it would stand out. But, it is dwarfed by this morning.

    Part 2 yielded 22 40% halves and 6 1964.
    Today part2.jpg

    Day total: 164 40%, 7 1964, 1 1970D.

WOW WOW WOW What fun and pure luck!!!

Merc!!!!! I LOVE YOUR FIND!!!!!! My son was drooling haha congrats.

Wow, nice work!! You should have gotten his number as he may have more. You may go back and ask the worker to give him your info the next time he comes in because I bet he is a regular. I have seen people spend Eagles as $1 coins as well. I also know a bank that turned away several Morgans a guy was cashing in(for a dollar each) because the girl thought they were foreign coins. Wow.

On a somber note....these sudden finds across the country have anything to do with Obama and the threat of not sending out social security checks next month? My own retired family members are thinking that way too. Small panic among elderly...not good...

    A few questions, and points:

    1) OMFG Merc and Erin, you ungodly lucky ducks! So jelous!

    2) I mentioned I picked up the 6 silver Canadian dimes yesterday. It got me thinking, do you think roll searching in Canada is great, or terrible? I know that the newer Canadian coins don't have a copper strip along the rim, so it would make it harder to pick out a silver coin at a quick glance, like the bank tellers do here in America. On the other hand, you would have to check every.single.coin.

    3) About Obama considering not sending out SSI checks: Justice for some, I say and a pitty for others. I think we can all agree that there are some who get checks, and shouldn't and others who need that and don't.

Merc and Erin I'm about to gag with your luck. I worked through:

    $20 in teller halves
    1 box of halves
    2 boxes of dimes

    My Silver: 1 x 1964 Rosie

    That's it.

I need some luck as this is stinking big time right now!

By the way...I hit about 16 banks in this God awful heat to get 1 dime.

Nice hauls Merc, Erin, and rlspears10!

Man Erin I don't know how you do it. You must walk out the door in the morning and Silver just starts chasing you around...haha. You sir are the Silver Surfer.

    2 boxes of halves today= 2 skunks.

Going Metal detecting in the morning to a small lake that I don't think will prove anything valuable, but who knows? It's worth a shot. Also plan on going half hunting afterwards (I haven't done that in awhile).

And I asked one branch I had been getting halves from to cancel ordering me halves and just order me 2 boxes of Dimes. So looks like I'll be searching Dimes again too. I haven't searched Dimes in forever.

Searched another 9 rolls of halves today and found another 40% silver coin.
My buddy has been doing it with me and his mom hit up a few banks while she was out today and she searched 14 rolls of halves and found 4. Not quite like our find of 10 yesterday out of 27rolls, but still not too bad I'd say.

Chester, I wish I knew what it was. Bob and Incarnate claim I can smell silver haha. My poker luck is horrible but you guys see my coin luck so I guess it balances out. I truly have been fortunate to make a number of BIG finds under the noses of numerous others in our area. I need to update and post my top ten finds of the past two years. It is staggering. One thought it can't continue...another imagine if I/we had done this even as few as 10 years ago...

PS my finds today may have been bigger but I think Merc's is cooler and the 6 ASE's at a gas station would be second coolest.

There is a Casino in the area and I was thinking the banks around that probably still have a few silver halves somewhere in their rolls as the casino no longer uses coins. I'm thinking it might be worth checking out next time I'm in the area...
I'm sure someone already beat me to it though.

In terms of ROI, the 6 ASE's for $3.33 or whatever each is the best find. I'm #2, and Erin's would be #3.

In terms of raw value, Erins is #1, I'm #2, and Spears' ASE's are #3.

I guess I didn't make out TOO bad.

Oh, I almost forgot, another box of halves yielded another 40%er, and a bag of quarters ($567.50) yielded a '43.

Yeah no **** about the 10 years ago thing. Imagine how much you would have been able to stock pile up when prices of silver were much lower, I'm sure silver halves were even more prevelent then.

All 3 were awesome finds, that I can only dream of so far. Congratulations.

I've heard stories of being shocked at getting boxes without a 90%er... 40%ers in every other roll... crazy stuff. I've personally found a couple bank rolls from the '90's, and they all had silver in them.

I don't want to hear complaints about the heat out east, you have had it for like 2 days now. We are over 20 days straight over 100 degrees in Dallas, looking like we are going to break the record of 50 days over 100 in a year from back in 1980. Also we have had 8" of rain for the entire YEAR, lakes are drying up, towns are rationing water, and then there are the fires that we won't even talk about. Want to talk about heat AND humidity, try Houston or New Orleans, they have it all, heat, humidity, mosquitoes, venomous snakes, gators, hurricanes, tornadoes, and the list goes on. So like I tell my family in Boston, I don't wanna hear it.

As I type this, its 89 degrees with a heat index of 97, and thats after midnight folks!

I see that and raise you 87 degrees and 99 heat index.

    At nearly 2am.

It's only 80 here in Ohio.
And on a side note, I just finished a box of nickels and found one war nickel (44-P). In total today, I've gotten 18 '64's, 4 Franklin's, Walking Liberty's, 5 40% and a war nickel.

Businesses do have the right to refuse currency. Just because it is legal tender, doesn't mean they have to accept it. Same with $100 bills, businesses are in the right to refuse those. They can accept anything they want, actually. A gas station could only sell you gas for rocks or tootsie rolls, if they really wanted to.

Complainer. Just kidding! It's hot and miserable everywhere, I suppose we can all agree on that. I wonder how the roll-searching is in Alaska....

Had a good box of cents yesterday, kind of. A semi-decent 1916D (VF maybe), 2 1920s, 1 1926 D, a 1938, 2 1939s, and other common 40s and 50s. 25 wheats total, better total and more early ones than I've had in a while. Other than the box with my 2nd roll-searching IHC a few days ago. A 1906 I think, probably G-6.

Hey everybody, I guess this is okay to ask here. Silver is at $40.07 per oz. and halves are listed at $14.49. What's a
good sell dollar wise to expect on halves?
