I should be surprised at the grade but I'm not. Gettin used to it I guess. I'm glad for ya Matt, that's a biggie !
Congratulations, like I said, it could grade 63! Bid is over $17.5K! Incuse gold is tough to grade. In this case the luster carried it. The owner will be thrilled and you have earned his full trust.
Very wise decision to have it graded! The value likely tripled. The grading of Pratt's gold coins vary so very much. If your customer was a gambler, I think it would be very interesting to have a different person submit it again to see if it came back the same, or does NGC now have coin identification software so they can spot it as a regrade....maybe PCGS even? If it were to lose a number to a 62, you lose $$$$, but if it gains a number to a 64, your value pops way up there. That's a big difference on a coin that is so subjective in grading. At times like this, it would be nice to have an explanation from the grader as to why he/she awarded it the grade that he/she did.
This coin is not an upgrade candidate. I think they graded it accurately. Now comes the part where I get a little poorer...
That's right, you were going to buy it from him. Good luck. Perhaps he will give you a break since you did so much for him.
Thanks for the interesting thread. Would you care to share the outcome? Is it destined to be a part of your collection? Chuck
I wasn't aware that the auction and population figure information was copyrighted. Presumably CW Trends is not...
Anything and everything you see on the net is automatically copyrighted including this and every other post in this forum. However, some of it we have been given permission to use. Heritage picture come to mind (so long as they are credited).
So it would be OK to cite pop. or auction figures as long as the wonderful, wonderful people who provide that info. are given credit?
