Hi I bought this coin on ebay, and like most of my experiences on there it didnt turn out well. It looked beautiful in the pics on his ad. Im pretty sure I way over paid because when it showed up it had a line on obverse. and a small scratch in the eagles wing that wasnt visible in his pics. The line doesnt really look like a scratch but I have no idea what its from. Basicly Im wondering how bad it hurts the grade and if its a problem coin. I waited forever to buy a 1921 and was on a budget, tryed to get the prettiest coin for my dollar and it didnt really work out. Hopefully you guys have some good news for me. What do think it will grade and whats it worth? Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi wickedsensation, I do not think it will grade. It would most likely come back as genuine, damaged, due to that scratch. Does the seller have a return policy? Something to think about if he does.

No, said returns not accepted. I put trust in his feedback and description which said ms62 beautiful full mint luster and a million other things about the coin lol. Ive learned alot about ebay sellers since I bought this coin. I wont buy from someone who wont accept returns anymore. I like norfeds and ebay seems the only place to find them so I still shop there for them, but for the most part Ive just given up on ebay for other coins. Also The couple times I did return coins paypal made me wait almost a month to get my funds back and I had to pay more shipping and yada yada. What a hassle. Now I think I will stick to local shops where I can see the coin in hand. I really want to go to a good coin show but I live here in Illinois and its hard to find them, so it kinda stinks. But oh well better than dealing with ebay and throwing my money in the garbage.

I made some unsavory purchases myself on ebay as well. So, live and learn I guess. :|

Did the line on the obverse show up in his pic on the ebay auction? As a seller, is he supposed to disclose something like that?

No I couldnt see anything. it looked really beautiful and alot whiter. He had 100% feedback and like 2000 sales so thought I was safe. I bought 3 the 1921, a 1926s and a 1922 and all of them looked different than his pics. I emailed him and no reply. I should have filed a complaint I think. But I had just started collecting and using ebay, it was my first month on there lol. Now I think too much time has gone by to do anything about it. So partly my fault, like gbroke said live and learn I guess.

File an "Item not as discribed" with pay-pal. He's been purposely deceptive with you. Don't let him get away with this.

If you don't mind me asking what did you pay for it?

And with eBay's buyer protection, you WILL get your money back. All sellers MUST accept returns, regardless of their own individual policy.

Return policy or not, Paypal is the BUYERS friend.....

This is why Paypal is the buyers friend. Return policy or not, an SNAD washes a no-return policy clean out of the equation. When sending this 'seller's' coin back, MAKE SURE you use DELIVERY CONFIRMATION....and file the SNAD as quickly as you can. That will get the seller's attention. Leave appropriate feedback, determined by how easily or difficult the seller makes the return process.

There really is just about no such thing as a 'no return' policy on ebay...even with graded coins.
