I just got 10 rolls of half dollars and will search them but I don't know what to look for, which coins are 40% silver and which other ones do I need to look for? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank You

    1964 and older 90% silver
    1965-1970 40% silver
There are numerous varieties you can be looking for as well. A copy of the Cherry pickers guide is a great idea for any roll searcher

Pre-1965 half dollars are 90% percent silver and 1965-1970 half dollars are 40% silver, so make sure to look for those. There may be errors, varieties, etc. to look for too but I dont know much about them.

That's pretty good. I haven't found one in several months.

Also you have to lookout for proofs, I have several from the early 1980s that I found when I found the pile of silver in halves back in March.

Searching halves is kind of like playing a slot machine - most of the time you lose. But when you hit, you usually hit it big time. I turned around and sold all the 40% for the same amount I paid for all of the halves - $340, and I only had $34 face.

BTW I also own a slot machine, my personal little casino - a nickel machine that I use Buffalo nickels in.
