1971D error penny. Very strange!

    Found this in pocket change. Don't know much about error coins. Can't tell if this is after mint damage from a machine of some kind or a mint error. If it is a mint error, looks like a couple of different problems. Would something like this be of value? 001.JPG 004.JPG

    I think it would be PMD..it looks like someone took 2 pennies were compressed in a vice. Though I hope to be wrong because it's kinda cool looking coin.

    That is one heavily damaged coin. Certainly NOT a Mint error. Another Lincoln Cent (reverse) was pressed or smashed into the obverse of your coin. Note the reversed and incuse lettering. Spend it or toss it in the trash.

    Yep, PMD. A 'mash' job......as Hobo said, the lettering is backwards (reversed).
