i know for a fact that the half dollar is an error. if you look in between the vertical stripes in the shield on the reverse there is some sort of error. im assuming its a lamination, but thats only a guess.to me it also looks like the "half dol." on the reverse is a double die. any suggestions as to what this error is would be great. also i have a 1989d penny with an obvious error on the mint mark but i cant tell what kind it is. thanks!

Seated half dollars aren't my specialty, but I thought they didn't begin putting the "In God We Trust" motto on the Half Dollar until 1866. In fact, I thought the 1864 two (2) cent piece was the first US coin to carry that motto.

I'm often leery about buying antebellum silver coins given the large number of Chinese counterfeits. However, if it's authentic, that's one heck of an error you got there!

If the half is an 1843,its counterfeit and the cent is post mint damage

Oh sorry I meant to type 1876 for the half dollar. My local coin dealer said that it would probably be rated around au-50. Funny thing is I bought it from him 13 years ago when I first started collecting as a kid for just a couple bucks. When I get a chance I'll post a pic of the obverse.
