Do you think the coin at the following ebay auction is real? If so what would you think the value would be? http://cgi.ebay.com/2006-Lincoln-Ce...Z8401777678QQcategoryZ524QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
zinc I would be a little scared of that coin. It's to easy to remove the copper plating. I'd want to see it in person or have it authenticated.:goof: And whats with the $5.60 shipping and ins.? I shipped a coin to Canada with $500.00 ins and delivery confirmation for $8.00.
What a joke. With today's cent being mostly zinc, someone has obviously removed the copper plating and is now trying to pass off this worthless coin as an error in order to make money and worse cheat unexpecting new collectors. They should be horse whipped. At the least slapped on the hand.
I'm inclined to believe it's only ebay sellers that ever find errors. 2006-P "piece of unflossed lettuce in Jefferson's tooth" RARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can't be that rare...He seems to have found several. Hmmm, different year too.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=524&item=8391960040
And another... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=524&item=8392993168 Anyone wanna bet theres more? If you did you would have lost.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=524&item=8390687390
I got to looking at those coins a little bit more and I realized I can be rich. I was playing in the fireplace over the winter and found out how to melt the copper off of pennies with my ash shovel lol very tricky procedure. Leave it in there too long and you'll melt the entire penney lol not that i know this form personal experience I swear lol
zinc this guy is still selling his no copper cents, and more amazing is people are still buying, even with the high shipping and a no return policy!!! :headbang:
I cant believe he is selling all of those, I found out you can do it with aluminum foil, boiling water and soda wash......it take off the copper.... His look like he blasted them with walnut shells......
And yet, the guy has 99.7% positive feedback... Here's another one from 2005...it looks better! :rolling: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=524&item=8411242513 I'm sure after the winning bid was $62.01, we have a problem. And another! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=524&item=8394279737
Hi guys ... I'm new to the site and have a question for you all. I'm sure this has been discussed before but I am new to collecting and noticed today upon recieving some 2006 Lincoln's in some change that there are markings at the bottom of lincolns arm as seen in the first link of this thread. I have not seen the markings on any other year Lincoln cent. They look like initials or something but I do not have a magnifying glass or loupe. What are they? TIA
vdb The initials on that lower edge are VDB, they stand for Victor David Brener, the man who disigned the obverse of Lincoln in 1909. The initials are on all but a few years in the teens. most years the letters were smaller and harder to see. The most sought after are the 1909 coins that has VDB in larger letters on the bottom of the reverse, especially the 1909-S, the king of the Lincolns.
Thank you for the reply. I was aware of the VDB in 1909 but did not realize they did it other years as well and thought maybe they had brought it back for the 2006 but wasn't sure without some form of magnification. Thank you for taking the time to enlighten me! :smile
