Today got a roll of Ocean in the View Nickels and also a very worn Buffalo Nickel. Can't make the date out. Also a 1957-D and 1952-D cent
Yesterday I struck silver with a 1941 Washington Quarter with a die rotation of about 30 deg. I also found a 1953-d wheatie and a 1941 Canadian and BU 1966 Lincoln Memorial.
I found a 1939 and a 1940 jefferson nickel this week in change. I'm not sure if they came from the same place or if it is coincidence.
This is why I love coin collecting, when I hold an old beat up coin, my mind races with thoughts of where its traveled and whos hands its passed through. But my most recent find wasnt so beat up. It was a 1935 $1 silver certificate, perfect crisp uncirculated. I got it in change at a coffee shop.
Wow,.,,impressive..hard to believe someone would actually have that in their pocket and just give it away
2 war nickels in $10 worth of rolls from the bank - both 1945P well circulated. Got a late 1950s nickel also, but all others post 1960.
This isn't a find so much as an acknowledgement of a heads up play. My cousin was in North Korea recently, and sent me some coins and currency. It's not hard to find North Korean money in circulation in North Korea, but that she thought to save some for me was pretty cool.
i am new i dont have a lot of money so i collect from circulation. so far i got about 50 wheat cents(50s 40s 30s and one 1912) about 50 pre 1960 nickels (2 war time) 1964 d dime 1968d half my best find is a 1906 canadian dime my oldest is a 1895 indian cent
I got a 1936 Buffalo in change at CVS last night. It has a nice bold date and half a horn. Not bad for being in circulation for 70 years.
Have just spent two weeks on holiday near Orlando Fl and have found the following from circulation: A further 15 states quaters (7 - D Mint) for my collection including P Oregon, Pand D Kansas, P West Virginia and P Nevada. Both 2005 5c and the 2006 (all P) 3 Wheat cents, (2x'56D and 1x'57D) plus '64 and '68 cents Older jeffersons, ('55 + '64 + '64D) All coins found by going through in loose change in my pocket at the end of each day. Lots to be found it sems.
heheh, this thread reminds me of the time I was working part time at a gas station and this kid came in and paid for his pile of junk food, candy and pop with change. I started sorting the change into the proper places in the register and noticed a wheatie, then another, then more. I looked at what he gave me a bit more closely and, if I remember right, came up with more than three dollars in wheat penn.......(sorry Satootoko) cents. I kept expecting an irate parent or grandparent to come in looking for their stash of wheaties for the rest of my shift. I wasn't interested in collecting at the time but I knew enough to set those aside and buy them from the register.
That's pretty neat. I dont think many people would get up set over a few wheats. Do you remember if there were any good and/or early dates in the mix?
Nope, this was years ago and I had no idea about key dates or anything back then. My dad had a few coins he had accumulated over the years so I gave them to him.
