I am considering purchasing this coin, but wanted your opinion on whether its real and how much I should offer? Thanks in advance!
See if you can find it here: http://www.ngccoin.com/poplookup/World-Coin-Price-Guide.aspx. One way you might go about this is to make any offer conditional upon a grade and attribution from NGC. That'd probably be the surest way. Don't know enough about this coin to advise beyond that.
Hi. At first it's 3 grosz , not 6. King Stefan Batory rare R1. Here is the link to polish auction house archive. 1$= 3zl. http://translate.google.com/transla...search_in=name&search_what=trojak+1586+olkusz You need to find your variant and compare to original coin. Check shape of the letters.
It could possibly be from 1505. Compare your coin to this one: http://www.vcoins.com/world/coinstomedals/store/viewItem.asp?idProduct=3004
It is a Hungarian Denar from reign of King Vladisav - these are most affordable way to collect early dated coins. Indeed what you think is the date is, they started putting dates on them in 1504. My earliest is a 1508, which I still think is earliest dated coin of Christian era in my collection.
