... ANACS 1st Gen. slab MS63DMPL 1882-CC Morgan w/ intense rainbow toning (pink, blue, and purple hues). I thought that possibly due to the attractive toning that it would have a chance at coming back in an MS64DMPL holder if I were to crack-it-out and send it in for grading to PCGS. Do you think that it is a possiblity? What would you personally pay for this particular coin? Please leave all thoughts, opinions, and comments below!

    Thanks in Advance,
    Brian

It looks like she has a gash or other defect on her face. I think that might keep her from grading higher.

I thought the exact same thing, but I don't believe it's as deep as the photo makes it out to be. Also, I'm fairly sure that it is still a bag mark. Not something done after it had been put into circulation (or technically a collection). But, my main question in the matter is the toning. Is it enough to compensate for additional bag marks that a 63 may have? And even if it were still a true 63, would you pay anymore of a premium for the toning included?

I'm with the others in that I wouldn't crack it out and send it in for regrading due to the gash on Liberty's cheek.

Even if it stays a 63 DMPL, you will then have it in a PCGS holder, which may command a much higher premium than an ANACS slab.

It's cool the way it is. I'm not sure PCGS would go 63. I would not risk it.

In this case I don't think a PCGS slab would bring more than the one it's in. Everyone knows the grading was better when this piece was slabbed. They might assign it a better grade, but standards are loose, if not ridiculous these days.

go for it ... it may not get an upgrade but a 63 will still increase its value as opposed to a ANACS holder

Personally I'm amazed that coin even got into a slab.I'd leave it right where it is.

i would say leave it as it is. there are to many variables to risk trying to regrade that coin

If you send it to PCGS for a cross over you can tell them what minimum grade you will accept. If it does not hit that number they will leave it in the ANACS slab.

I was thinking the same thing.

And to the original poster, I wouldn't crack it out for fear of it coming back in a PCGS "Genuine" holder.

Last couple of ANACS MS63 DMPL sold in the low $300's at auctions. Some NGC and PCGS sold for around same amount

Beautiful coin brian. If i were you i wouldnt crack it out. If it came back 64 that would be great but pcgs sometimes seems to be a tougher grader than even ngc so id be worried that it would come back 62

I doubt it would go for a MS64.There are many contact marks on the cheek. It is still a nice coin.

I don't think it would come back graded any higher. Too many bag marks. I think you would be best off to leave it where it is.
