As I have learned through my short time collecting, usually everyone has a niche they collect in. After quite some time I've decided that I'd like to collect coins and currency from the civil war era, both union and conferdate types. Is there someone I can go to get a rough idea of what is available in this category, and maybe even some dealers where I could buy some. I'm about an hour outside Philly to give an idea of travel range. Any information would be a great help.

    Bill -

You're not gonna find much on the Confederate side, at least not unless you have very, very deep pockets. You can get more info by - CLICKING HERE

As for US coins from the Civil War era - they are rather easy to find. Some are expensive, some not so expensive. Just pick the denomination of your choice - they made 'em all. You can see them all - HERE

What also might be worth looking into are the tokens available from both sides for this period :thumb:

Don't know if you tried yet but check out if there are any coin shows in your area. Go to one and start asking all the dealers lots of questions. Don't rush into buying something they may recommend, but just keep on asking questions until you know what you want.
