Everybody here has been listing some nice medals, I hope this one fits in. Anytime I find an artistically sculpted female figure from the nouveau period I buy it if I can afford it. This medal from someplace in South America appealed to me for that along with its unique shape and composition. The cent is for scale as it is only about 2 inches across.

Your medal is from Uruguay. :)

Thanks Collector1966. I thought so, but I just didn't want to take the word of the last owner and I hadn't taken the time to verify, just being content to behold the piece without knowing the attributes.

I like your MI525D-2a, R-3 :thumb:. It's one of the William Jackson varieties that's still on my list to get. Its 1348 reverse always catches my eye.

Nice sharp Patriotic CTW, in at least EF grade :thumb:

    It appears to be a 79/351, R-1.

Very nice Coppermania. Most of my favorite medals are of art nouveau or art deco women then just unusual medals such as the Swiss flying saucer woman shooting medal posted much earlier.
It's interesting to view the different medal collections in this thread.

Actually, I have about 1000 medals, but I lost about 700 photos to a virus a few years ago, and I've never gotten around to reshooting them.

Nice shooting medal! Hats like that were common at the turn of the century. They used them as frisbees.

    I still maintain it's a flying saucer hat. :)

Here's a Swiss shooting medal featuring a great looking helmet...

I bought this many years ago when I first got interested in Swiss Schutzenfest medals and have never seen another offered for sale.

Love your merchant token Siggi. Do you know what type of business this was and do you have any history on it? Thanks for the pic.

    Thank you Bruce,

This is from the very first set of merchant tokens made in Iceland. As far as we know :)

There is a great deal of information regarding the merchant and his buisness. There is a huge 800 page book about him and the buisness that I have read 3 times. Absolutly amazing read and this man is my hero as he was a clever clever man who became rich at the time were Icelanders were poor to the bone.

Here are two of my favorites that I own. I like lots of others, but don't own them yet. ;)
