Just thought I'd share this (what I think is) an almost convincing fake....

    Hi there,

I was rolling my canadian quarters to take to the bank, when I came across this coin (see pictures).

At first I thought that I had found a blank with a double stamped queen bust. WOW I thought, what a find!

You can clearly see that the queen side appears to be double stamped in a mirror image with the words on both sides of the bust.

However, here is what makes me think its fake:

The two sets of dots on the rim just don't look right. One set is raised and one is dimpled.

The fact that the queen is mirrored wouldn't happen if it was simply double stamped.

It may be hard to see in the picture, but If you look close enough, the queen in the background (BQ) is not the same as the queen in the foreground (FQ). The BQ is actually a much newer version of the queen with no crown or tiara.

I also noticed that there was only one of the little symbols to the bottom of the bust, which only recently appeared on newer versions of the queens bust.

So there you have it. I think that someone took a newer coin, placed it over an older one and pressed them together in a vice etc.

If anyone has any ideas that would make this an actual error coin, I'd love to hear them.

    Have a great day!

As a kid I smashed several nickels stacked together in Dads vise and got a similar result. I am not saying that is what happened but you can make one this way.

The top of one coin was squeezed on top of the other. PMD, worth face if you can get someone to accept it
