A friend of the family has asked me what this is worth (because I'm supposed to know "something" about coins). I'm afraid I already know the answer but I'm hoping you can provide some slim ray of hope I can pass along. Packed in a spiffy wooden chest, about the size of what fancy silver tableware are packed in, are ten snap-open boxes containing 5 each State quarters for one particular year. Total: all 50 state quarters. They are mostly "P" mint, with the occasional random "D" mint. All are uncirc. business strikes and are each individually encapsulated in Air-Tites (or something similar). The outfit that produced this over-packaged production was "World Reserve Monitary Exchange", and I think I remember these sets being advertized in magazines as some sort of future heirloom. I suspect that single-mint, 50 State quarter sets aren't very valuable despite the fancy packaging, but I'm hoping some of you may have seen these up for resale. Pictures are attached:
They are selling the sizzle and not the steak. In others words, they are selling the packaging and not the item. No real value here numismatically.
Just had some of them here. I ended up opening most of them and rolling them up. I think there are a few sets of each left around so if they want some more! LOL.. Actually pkging is nice but... value is face.. Look on their website and it will make you sick what people have paid for this stuff..
