I'd like to know some reputable grading services of bills. I'd also like to know your favorite and why. I might start collecting bills seriously.

Most people go with either PCGS, or PMG. There are a few others out there, but those are the two big ones, and probably your best bet, if you intend on getting some of your notes, graded.

The two above grading services have annual membership fees necessary for the direct submission of notes. Membership also includes such perks as access to population reports, and assembling registry sets as well as newsletters.

Both grading services also have authorized dealers to submit notes for you. Sometimes it just boils down to whether or not the note is valuable enough, and/or worth having graded.

Me, myself, and I. I know what I like and don't way better than some bloke in a stuffy, windowless office.

Thanks for the info Steve...very helpful. Now that I'm getting serious about my obsolete collection I may decide to send some of mine in for authentication and grading. Which service do you perfer?

I have purchased a few notes certified by both PCGS and PMG. I have noticed, at least in my instances, that the PMG graded notes were cost less than the PCGS graded notes. I have been very happy with the purchases of both grading services. It certainly is not always the case. But sometimes it is.

I am a fan more of PMG than PCGS, but mostly just due to the way I like their holders. I think both are reputable. I send mine in with orders from my local coin/currency dealer.

Most casual collectors will use PCGS, NGC, and ANACS. Each have their own advantages and disadvantages. The top 2 are PCGS and NGC. ANACS is the best for varieties and problem coins.

Never heard of PMG. They must be the new kids on the block.

Fusia, I'm talking about services more pointed towards grading paper money

NGC and ANACS as far as I know only do coins.

PMG is NGC's arm of Paper Grading. Stand's for Paper Money Gaurantee.

Oh yeah, I should have read your post better.

I guess you can tell I collect coins. But I have an interest in some paper money, so maybe I'll look into it.

Sweet. Are you happy with their grading of your bills? Also where in SoCal are you? My bro in law lives in Oceanside and we try to visit every year. Love the beaches there. I went down to a coin shop in Carlsbad last year when I was there. Cool shop with lots to choose from.

I actually mis-read the prior post. I only had Goldmart grade my coins, and then I sold the coins to them. They are in newport beach, right near John Wayne Airport. We nice guys, appointment only. PCGS authorized.

Well I would just like to mention how long it is taking PCGS Currency to grade two fractional notes that I sent them.
I mailed the US Registered Insured mail on April 14, 2011. They inputted it into their system on April 29, 2011, hmmmm.
They have not notified me of any order status since. I did call about June 20th and they said it should be done by the end of June. Well that has come and gone and the order status hasn't changed. So I wrote them a letter asking why they are taking so long and just about demanded some action.
I know that June was a busy month for them in accommodate coin shows but am I wrong in thinking this is taking too
    long in my case.
