Ever wonder if CAC will get around to grading TPG paper currency ? I'm guessing that coins are easier to re-evaluate after encapsulation then paper currency.

Another question, I read this on CAC's FAQ section.......

[h=3]7. Are the serial numbers of PCGS or NGC coins submitted to CAC for verification recorded? If so, are coins automatically rejected by CAC that have previously been submitted but were not stickered?[/h] The serial numbers of all PCGS and NGC coins that are submitted to CAC are recorded at the time they are entered into the CAC system.
All PCGS or NGC coins that are submitted to CAC are reviewed for CAC verification whether they have previously been submitted to CAC or not. Occasionally a coin that has previously been rejected for CAC verification is reconsidered by CAC and stickered.

.........from what I read, somehow the rejected submission could "improve" over time and get stickered after re-examination. How is this possible ? Could this be an admission that sometimes CAC makes a mistake ?

I don't know why, but I never felt there was the problem with paper money as there is with coins. First of all, does rarity come into play for grades with paper currency? I don't like that double standard to begin with. You don't have the surface conditions to deal with either. (Patina, nicks, scratches, hairlines, luster ect...) So grading is easier for the collector and he doesn't have to rely on others as much. And yes, lets not give them any ideas. Least they tell you your inept at grading yourself or you can't resell your item, for the proper value, without their approval on it.

Paper currency does have "surface conditions" .....embossing, pinholes, being pressed, cleaned, trimmed and other post-BEP conditions that will affect a PPQ/EPQ designation on the holder. Many a note gets an upgrade or downgrade when crossed over between grading companies.

I find it easier to grade those condition on a bill than the others I listed for the coins. A pinhole only takes some back lighting and anyone can see it/them. Tears are obvious as well. With coins, not only do you identify the problem, where the problem is located and the amount of the problem, (again subjective in many cases) affect overall grade. Although important to paper currency, these problems are not as difficult to asess.
