I kind of assume everything i find with doubling on it anymore is MD, but i finally got a decent camera and was going to post a few pics for other opinions if no one cares. Some of them look pretty neat in any case. If the doubling is obverse and reverse, it's a good bet it happened when it was struck i'm guessing, but i'm not sure.
Here's a bigger size of the same pics: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/219/99p3.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/200/99p4.jpg/ edit: well it was a bigger size, they must reduce it there, sorry about that.
Id have to say MD, the doubling looks to be mashed below the actual design of the coin. The 2 ddo's that i have found(55 ddo2 and 68 ddo-01), the doubling is noticably raised, but not so much on yours. Im still a novice though, so you should wait for a more experienced person to chime in And btw, nice pics
Thanks! It's not easy getting a decent pic sometimes. I read some about the 1999Ps and the severe to light die wear, i didn't know if this was a product of that or not.
Whenever you see doubling on both sides your first thought should be machine doubling. It is extremely rare for a coin to have been struck with a doubled obverse die AND a doubled reverse die. (Yes, exceptions exist but they are extremely rare.)
