Run across these every so often, was wondering if it was just struck at an angle or if there's a name for this, it's a little different than the off center ones. These are hit at an angle?

Haven't figured this one out either. It seems like it's off center and at an angle, there's a space in front of washington's eye.

Some call it a double rim but it is far from that... the coin is off center by a little bit and the flow of the metal brings the appearence of a double rim. Very common

A good photo of the entire obverse would be nice but based on the limited view in the OP I would say it is a MAD (MisAligned Die).

The raised portion of the rim is the remnant of the proto-rim (which was created by the upset mill). The rest of the proto-rim was struck by the die.

Thanks for the replies. The rest of the obverse is normal looking, there's no slant like on the quarter. I'm guessing the MADs appear in an assortment of looks then? I have one penny that has that lower part of rim and then there's a split in that so it kind of looks tripled in a certain spot. Are any of the MADs worth keeping or worth anything?

If a big MAD then yes

Here's the whole obverse. Anyone have any quick examples of big MADs and what they might be worth?
