I have found the most unusual coin I have ever seen. I know nothing about coins but found what I thought was a rusty quarter in my change box. Then I looked closer and saw it was all copper. I did a google search and read about quarters and reacting the nickel off with chemicals. I investigated further and seen what the weight should be for a quarter. I work in a chemical plant that has a lab. I put the quarter on the lab scale and it read 5.56 oz. This is a 2001 Vermont quarter in excellent condition. Does anyone have any idea how this was done and perhaps the general value of this coin?

5.56oz.? If it was ounces we're lookin' at heavy metals here......Grams maybe? 5.67 grams be the true weight of a clad quarter.

It would be 3.6ish if it was just a copper core.
