Dead link, dude. Sucks ya had to shoot someone, but hey, you have a right to protect your property and person.
A few years ago there was a shooting at the coin shop a few blocks from my house. Both the owner and his wife suffered multiple gunshot wounds but survived. The suspect made it 50 feet out the door with a bag of merchandise before he died of his gunshot wounds. The kicker? A day or so later I saw people protesting near the store because the owner had shot and killed the person who robbed (and shot) him. PROTESTING!!! I mean, really? Perfect example of what's wrong with America.
Hi new to this particular forum and (forums). Does anyone know of dealers in huntington beach california that allow pick up service? Tulving, Goldmart.com (any news on this company)??
UPDATE - Arrest made [h=1]Detroit Man Charged in 2011 Coin Store Robbery[/h][h=2]Police use DNA evidence to ID suspect[/h]Updated: Friday, 06 Apr 2012, 12:57 PM EDT Published : Friday, 06 Apr 2012, 12:57 PM EDT By myFOXDetroit.com Staff ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WJBK) - Roseville police used DNA evidence to identify a man suspected of robbing a coin and jewelry store last year. Robert Tillman, 31 of Detroit, was arrested Thursday and charged with one count of assault with intent to rob while armed, one count of felony firearm and two counts of assault with intent to murder. He, along with two other men, is accused of attempting to rob the Coin Cove on Gratiot near 10 Mile on June 14, 2011. Police say during the robbery, the suspects fired several gun shots at store owners before fleeing the scene. Police were unable to locate the suspects, but one dropped an article of clothing which was held for possible DNA evidence. With help from the Michigan State Police Crime Lab, police were able to match the DNA to Tillman's. He is being held in the Roseville Police Department's jail on an interim $500,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in 39th District Court.
Hopefully they will catch this handsome fellas partners. This is why it always cracks me up when I watch the CSI shows. They get DNA back in hours lol. In reality this took well over 7 months to get the DNA.
It didn't take 7 months to get the DNA, it took 7 months to get a match. Maybe the perps DNA wasn't on record until recently. You can get DNA almost immediately, but everyones DNA is not on record.
This story reminds me of a story posted on coinflation a couple days ago. A mother-daughter killed an elderly lady for her coin collection. It was only around $2000 worth, not much at these metal prices. That story kind of scared me, that trash like that would kill someone over so little money. Granted, I don't live next door to white trash that these two appeared to be, but still. I am glad I put most of my stuff in a SDB, but $2000? That is nothing in coins, and I am sure I still have more than that laying around the house. Kind of reinforces the notion nowadays to never let people know what you have if you can help it. Unfortunately, I predict more robberies like what the OP posted and the coinflation article. Already a couple of coin stores around me you have to go into a secure area, then be buzzed in a second door to get inside the shop. If PM goes higher, and certain segments of the population more desperate, it will just get worst. There is just no way I would be a coin dealer nowadays without 4 or 5 loaded weapons nearby.
That's one of the best reasons to become a coin dealer. A good excuse to buy more guns and write them off as a business expense!
Yeah Chris, it is really scary what people will do, putting no value to human life. It's not even about money. I have personally experienced the horror and lost a friend. Short version: My best friends at the time were bouncers at a local bar. I was there almost every day. Either shooting pool or hanging at the front door with my friends. On this particular night I was in the bar area getting my mac on. Some guys tried to pass a fake id at the door. My friends denied them of course. They came back 15 minutes later, walked in and just started shooting. Killed one friend, hit another, seriously injuring him. I am lucky I was not standing right there, as I usually was. I just don't get it. Anyway, I digress. The coin shop now does appointment only. I told him he needed to move his shop, well before this attempted robbery happened. I was actually shocked he had never been robbed in the 35 years he has been there.
The shop that I used to patronize (before I moved out east) sits on a major thoroughfare and lies on the fringes of an undesirable neighborhood. I have often wondered (too) why they've not been robbed but I think they might let it be known on the street that they're packin' some major fire power.
