http://cgi.ebay.com/1878-CC-MORGAN-...393536485QQcategoryZ39465QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem This coin has some interesting hairlines on it. Most of their coins are highly overgraded. For example, they have a 1921-s morgan that they offer a grade of ms-66/67. The coin is at best an ms-63, and they are trying to sell it for 1000 dollars when it is 50 dollar coin. Disgusting human behavior : (
zaneman, You hit it on the nail head! Due to grainy, porous surfaces of the coin, I would really question as to whether it is authentic or not! Also, the grade on the 1921-S is a real joke! Frank
The 1878-cc has a wierd and poorly defined rim, and stripes? across the reverse. Obverse is slightly grainy. Almost looks fake
But remember, it could be yours for 3 grand!!! I also don't believe the guy selling the coins is a direct descendant of Robert E. Lee.
Furthermore, I don't believe that people just come in and drop off their coins. This company sells far too many coins for that.
What's even more ridiculous, is the fact that if this coin was a legitimate ms-65, it would be worth only half of what they are asking.
Take a look at their negative and neutral feedback.http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs?User=bluemooncoins&Dirn=Received+by :goofer: Charlie
I guess he finally finished reading that upside down book. To answer your original question - I don't think so. Bluemoon at least states a grade opinion as its own and doesn't pretend that a third party grader made the assesment. On a scale of George Washington to Pinochio, I think Aboncom/SGS has a slightly longer nose than Bluemoon.
Blue Moon Coins are scammers and rip off artists. Stay far away. Check the PCGS forums if you're really interested in these scumbags...Mike
