Hi all, there is a penny, where the WE TRUST is totally missing on a coin up for auction on Heritage this week at the Long Beach show, lot 7165 is an NGC 1909-S Lincoln cent. How valuable is this type of error? thanks
Well first I thought "in god we trust" must all be missing to be a "godless" coin??? Not really sure about that. To me it looks like a grease filled die and I don't think they bring a premium, but wait for one of the experts.
During the late 70's early 80's there were a number of cuds with GOD missing on the Lincoln cents. These were heavily promoted to the public as major errores, and sold for big bucks. Today: the promoters are gone, and so is their money. Not a biggie.
IMO, as long as the word "god" is missing it would be "godless." I agree not much value to them, except maybe on the third side of a Presidential dollar. TC
The Lincoln Society has sold one similar to my 1964 Atheist Lincoln Penny without In God We Trust on it.
