I paid a bit more for mine from a dealer in Mexico who was selling on eBay, after they were already sold out in Mexico, but it's a sweet presentation and both notes have the same SN, so the expense and international shipping was worth the cost I paid. I recall paying something just over $40.

These are a couple more Mexican polymer notes, from circulation, that I got from a generous CTer. :)

    2007 20 Pesos & 2006 50 Pesos notes (circulated):

Here's something very cool about the 100 Peso note posted above. The watermark of the woman you can see behind the locomotive is taken from this famous Mexican Revolutionary era photo, knows as La Adelita:

""La Adelita" came to be an archetype of a woman warrior in Mexico during the Mexican Revolution."

Wow, what a huge amount of shared knowledge here. Thanks so much krispy. Your threads present the material in a cogent manner that makes me really think about picking up these notes.

Is it just me, why cannot the BEP put out nice folders with very colourful commemoratives like those? It was kind of funny when I bought mine, from a seller in Mexico, I was originally only going to get the $200 note - but the $100 is just so colourful and the $500 has Frida Kahlo that I knew I had to have them.

On the $100, I have seen them go for $14 US, and I wouldn't pay more than $18 or so.

Alas, I have not yet found a 500 Peso note for my collection just yet, but not only does that note feature Frida Kahlo but also her husband Diego Rivera on the opposite site, one of Mexico's most revered muralist. A great pairing for a strong art power-couple!

Here (and above in an earlier post) is an image of the 500 Pesos with a little video advertisement (at the link) when the note released.

You think the Canadian printing plants will botch the job on THEIR new $100 note, just like the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing did with the creasing on our new Series 2009 Bens.

Funny, but that was exactly my thought. Also, the elapsed time between the announcement to dramatically change the note design and composition to implementation is very short compared to the new US $100. However I'm pretty confident the program will move ahead, using known technology from Australian experience of nearly 20 years.

So, how long has "Motion" technology been "experienced" by a country? Anywhere near the ammount of time polymer banknotes have on Motion? (By that, I mean, how old it Motion compared to polymer. I was not meaning to combine the two. That would probably be a disaster. Especially for the U.S. BEP ;) )

If by "motion" you mean the floating numbers on the blue vertical bar on the US 100, it looks like an advanced version of the existing colour shifting - probably holographic?
Re: the Canadian 100, I'm a little surprised the portait has moved back to the center of the note. It moved from the center to the side with the 1953 series, where it has stayed through all subsequent series. I thought the reason for moving the portrait was the wear and tear on the center of the note when folded. I guess time will tell - maybe just a desire to change up the design? 100's do not seem to get much abuse, but when the high-usage polymer 5's, 10's and 20's arrive in 2013, I assume they will have a similar layout.

A new PMG article discusses these notes.

Bank of Canada Unveils Polymer Bank Note Series [Posted on 6/28/2011]

“The Bank’s objective with every new series is to produce a bank note that Canadians can use with the highest confidence,” said Governor Mark Carney. "The Bank is combining innovative technologies from around the world with Canadian ingenuity to create a unique series of bank notes that is more secure, economic and better for the environment."

Sorry for you error note hunters out there, you'll have to wait a while longer...

The $100 note is to be issued in November 2011 and the $50 note will be issued in March of 2012.

Starting with the $20 note in 2012, the remaining bank notes in the polymer series will be issued by the end of 2013.

If I remember right, Australia already has plastic currency. I think, since about 1997. I have a few that have a hologram in a clear area of the notes.
