Pick up the phone and call PP. BTW, I hope you mailed it with delivery confirmation (or better) or you are going to be up the proverbial creek without a paddle.
I do not understand how that worked, There used to be a set amount of days before certain claims could be made.
I think the current minimum waiting period is 4 days now. Since it's not been 4 days I don't understand how a complaint could have been filed. But that may be eBay's policy and not PayPal's. I don't see the "Why" for the complaint. What's the reason?
I think you have to open a “dispute” before opening a claim with PayPal: Did the wrong item arrive? Did your order not arrive at all, or was it significantly different than described? Open a dispute - and open up the lines of communication. You and the seller can discuss the problem and try to come to a mutually agreeable resolution. As many disputes are caused by misunderstandings, they are often easily resolved. However, if you and the seller are unable to come to an agreement on your own, your next step is to escalate it to a claim, which means PayPal will make a decision in favor of either the buyer or the seller. If you decide to open a dispute, be aware that you must open it within 45 days of the date you made your payment, and that you and the seller will have 20 days to work things out. And if you choose to escalate your dispute to a claim, you must do so within 20 days of opening the dispute, or it will be closed automatically. And as far as eBay, I think it’s still 7 days: Keep in mind that timing is important. You can open a case after the estimated delivery date (if available) or 7 days after making payment (if no estimated delivery date was provided). If you received an item, but it doesn't match the seller's description, you can open a case now. You must open a case within 45 days of making payment on an item.
Wow.. I hope it all works out for you. I would block him right away from bidding on future items.. Maybe message him and explain you have sent it and it has only been a couple days.. perhaps he had the payment mixed up with a different item he purchased
I found out he didnt open a dispute paypal did. They said its a possible fraud case. They are waiting for him to verify that he purchased this item. Paypal took the money back that they gave me, and they said if he doesnt respond im out of luck. I told paypal that doesnt seem right, to clear the funds, tell me im paid, I shipp the item, then they just take the money back. So ebay gets its fees, buyer gets the coin, and i get screwed.
Sounds like the buyer got the funds in his PayPal account by some fraudulent or illegal method. He knew that there will be a complaint and PayPal will try to recover the money and send it back to the victim, so he arranged a nice little eBay deal, hoping the seller will send the item (coin in this case) as soon as possible. PayPal indeed traced the funds and found it in bkozak33 account. So yeah, initial victim and the miscreant win, the honest seller lose. I`d say this is a lesson for sellers to 1. Hold the shipping for 3-5 days and not do it 5 min after receiving PayPal payment and 2. Put in item description something like "Buyers with less than 10 positive feedbacks, PLEASE DO NOT BID."
You can always, under "My Account" click on Site Preferences and under "Buyer Requirements" you can edit the type of buyers you want. I for example have it set to where members are blocked if they have unpaid item strikes, buyers in locations I don't ship to, buyers with negative scores etc... Sorry this happened to you but like the other member said, I hope you delivered with a confirmation. http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?BuyerBlockPreferences
What if the buyer's account was hacked? What if the account owner passed away and someone used the account? There are million possibilities that don't include the buyer ripping someone off.
paypal sucks I sold a fur coat for $750. Then I sold something else. Paypal, or Ebay, one in the same really... allowed themselves to bypass the $750 sitting in their own grasp for my seller fees and overdraft my bank account, resulting in my having to pay a $30 overdraft fee. I was super angry over it and all they ever did was pass the buck back and forth to each other. Never did get compensated for my unneccesary loss. Another time they froze my money so I couldn't transfer it to my bank. They said it was "a random security feature" what a bunch of bull. I could still buy and pay for auction items, just not physically have MY money. I hate them both and all their crap!
If you click on the auction link above, then click on the winning bidder (the dude with 2 feedback), you'll see that the guy had placed bids (and won many of them) on like 45 auctions in the past 30 days. Also, it shows that he is no longer a registered user. I'd take this to mean that the guy was in fact trying to rip people off, and paypal caught on quickly (but not quick enough), and his ebay account was closed. If the OP doesn't get his money back for the item, it looks like he probably isn't the worst one off, from seeing some of the categories that bidder bid on: "
Coins & Paper Money > Large Cents 1 Seller 1 <1h

Coins & Paper Money > Gold 1 Seller 3 <1h

Coins & Paper Money > Gold 1 Seller 4 <1h

Coins & Paper Money > Dollars 1 Seller 5 1h

Coins & Paper Money > Dollars 1 Seller 12 <1h

Coins & Paper Money > Dollars 1 Seller 13 <1h

Coins & Paper Money > Dollars 3 Seller 14 <1h

Coins & Paper Money > Gold 1 Seller 15 <1h

Coins & Paper Money > Dollars 1 Seller 16 <1h

Coins & Paper Money > Gold 1 Seller 17 3h

Coins & Paper Money > Dollars 1 Seller 18 <1h

Coins & Paper Money > Small Size Notes 1 Seller 19 <1h

Coins & Paper Money > Large Size Notes 1 Seller 20 <1h

Coins & Paper Money > National Banknotes 1 Seller 19 <1h

Be happy you didn't send off some gold bullion, I suppose.
Quite common concept, you`re definitely not the only one. Reading all they do to innocent users over the years, I am extremely cautious when dealing with PayPal, keeping in mind they might freeze the account without any reason or explanations.
