ANACS MS-70 Oregon satin finish State Quarter, I got it in a lot I bought off eBay which I made a lot of money on. I have not been able to find any other MS-70 coins that are not precious metals, what do you think it is worth?
The Uncirculated Mint Sets were not struck in silver. The dime, quarter and half dollar are cupronickel. Chris
Maybe it is difficult to understand, when I search for MS-70, the only things that come up are gold,silver and platinum, not state quarters.
Where are you searching? The NGC Census lists one MS70 for the 2005-P Oregon SQ. I no longer have access to the PCGS Registry. If you are searching eBay, it may be that none are listed. If there are only a few extant, they may already be in some NGC or PCGS Registry Set and not available for sale. Neither NGC nor PCGS will accept ANACS-certifed coins in their Registry Sets. Chris
I might get it transferred to NGC or PCGS, because it is in an ANACS slab right now, it will not get as high a premium, I worry that if I cross it over, it will be downgraded and be worth less than it is now.
It will more than likely be downgraded. PCGS and NGC have tighter grading standards than ANACS. If you are looking to sell, you might want to leave it where it's at rather than risk having it graded by another TPG. Although, I believe you can submit it in the current slab and ask them to grade it and only crack it out and reslab if it meets a certain grade you specify. At least, I think that can be done.
I am pretty sure that there is a rule that you cannot request that it is only crossed over if it is MS-70, the highest you can request is MS-69 I think, for PCGS anyway, I was reading about it, thinking about crossing over PF-70 NGC coins to PR-70 PGCS coins and selling them for a premium.
I can tell you that it will not cross over with the same grade from either NGC or PCGS. ANACS' standards have gone down hill considerably.
I wouldn't say that as a 100% fact. Nice coins get submitted to ANACS too and it very well may be a 70. However, I agree with you that their standards have slipped a lot and it is much easier to get a 70 from them than it is from PCGS or NGC. IMHO, it's not worth the risk of submitting it.

I decided I will not cross it over, maybe sell it on eBay eventually, I saw an ICG MS-70 go for over a hundred bucks, so this one seems a bit promising, a problem I have with the coin is that there is a visible nick on the rim of the coin, but it looks like it happened before the coin was struck, because the nick is covered in satin finish, any thoughts on this?
