Notable ads here in Connecticut are "Good Ole Toms" and "Super Jewelers". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iEfZvkbDg0 Although the ads were not positively reviewed by other residents I know, I visited a couple of "Tom's" stores yesterday in Hartford and was actually surprised by his inventory. He has a lot of employees, so he needs customers to pay for his expenses. In general, with cable TV ads being more expensive than newspaper or other ads, it is not surprising that most coin shops rely on the latter or referrals by happy customers.
He pays nowhere near top dollar for precious metals. I would never sell to his company. That being said, you can often find deals with pawn shops and jewelry buyers.
i,ve bought a few coins from good ole toms, and i have been delighted with the service and quality of his coins, and the fact he is prepared to ship to the UK. one in particular was a french ceres 2 centime in unc which was far cheaper than i would pay over hear, needless to say it replaced my EF example
Ha! Was that Alexander Siddig as testimonial #3? lol Actually with those local commercials, sometimes they can be very inexpensive. There's a few companies in Florida that were buying entire 30 minute blocks from the local cable stations and at 4pm on a Tuesday it was cheaper than a 30 second commercial during prime time.
