So, I received my weekly order of two half dollar boxes from a local bank near my parents' house (college grad student, home for the summer.) When I opened the boxes, I noticed that most of the rolls were wrapped in Brinks' half dollar wraps (mostly white with gold colored text) but a few were wrapped in dollar wraps (mostly white with silver colored text.) I thought, that's odd...I wonder why that happened? So I opened a roll of the silver wrapped coins...and pulled out a 1969 40% half!

Well, now my curiosity was piqued...so I opened the next silver wrapped roll...and pulled out a 1965. The next one yielded a heavily polished 1945 Walking Liberty. The fourth and final roll...1967. The four rolls that were wrapped in dollar wraps each handed me a silver half. The other 96 rolls? Diddly (in terms of silver.) Has anyone else noticed this happening? I'm tempted to order another couple boxes...but this is the first time I've seen odd wrappers...and my dump bank here in the STL area decided to, out of the blue, lecture me for bringing in $500 bags of half dollars. (I was shocked...I've always been extremely friendly, patient, and followed every guideline they've laid out. As I was depositing the proceeds, a woman who turned out to be the branch manager leans over the teller's shoulder and states in a very annoyed and angry voice, "It's too much. You can't bring coins in like that - if you bring coins in any more we're going to have to ship them away to be counted. That coin counter is meant for people with piggy banks!")

So I don't have a dump bank here in STL any more...but I just thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone else had similar luck?

Hmmm. The only explanatioin that comes to mind is that the four silver bearing rolls were wrapped by customers who didnt know about silver coins and the rest were wrapped by the bank and probable went through machines and stuff to sort out the silver
