I've got a few inherited bills. No clue on grading or value. Pardon the ruled paper. The spot at the top looks like a red-brown stain.
Paper isn't my thing, cool note anyways. Someone will be by shortly to give you a little help @SteveInTampa
Good looking FRBN. It’s unfortunate about the stain. Uncirculated examples bring $350-$500 depending on centering. Get it into a quality currency sleeve to protect it.
Perhaps you can tell me if I need to replace sleeves from say 40 years ago. I don't believe my grandparents had them sleeved, but my parents did.
You have a nice example of a Friedberg 737, Teehee/Birke note. As Steve stated, value is around $350. Older sleeves maybe harmful, so if in doubt, yes, change to a safe sleeve.
It’s hard to determine grade with out having the note in hand, as you can’t feel the quality of the paper, but based on what I see, you have a few issues in play first thing is the nasty stain, secondly the margins are very short especially on the front up and down I would estimate the grade at A/U 58 based on the visuals and comparing them with mine but again grading is very subjective, especially if not in your possession.
Even harder when you have it in hand and don't know anything. LOL Following mom's funeral and in the rush to divide this stuff up before my siblings traveled home, we used the internet and beer (that's the Irish coming through) approach. I'd pull stuff out of a safe and tell my brother what it was; he'd find it at an auction site or ebay; I'd verify he had the right thing; then my brother and our two sisters would agree on a value (usually 10-20% below selling price). My brother and I bought the sisters out as they had no interest in this stuff. We got through all in two days and everyone was happy. The pennies just got left behind with me (executor fee) lol. This note is on the inventory at $200.
I had a conversation with my heirs and none of the three had any interest in my paper money collection, so I sold it. For the exact reason stated above by @IrishLuck .
