I wroke up this morning and had a message from a friend that he had a Three Leg Buffalo Nickel (1931) He said it is in Good shape. I dont have pic. yet but will be going to look at it today. He has not priced it to me yet. What would something like that be worth in good shape. Im going to take my camera and see if he will let me make some pic. even if we cant make a deal to show you guys( that is if he really has one ). I have about $200 wroth of junk silver. Would I do good if I try to trade him that for it????? Please help so I know what to look for and not get burnt? Thanks:thumb:

A 1931 3-legger? Leave your silver home and just take photos.

I looked at another site and it showed that the three leg buffalo only came out in 1937. Would that be right????? If so Im sorry for wasting your time. However I still plan to go take a look just in case.

The 1937-D Three-Legged is a popular variety, but it is also quite common. There are many counterfeits of this coin, although competent numismatists can tell the genuine ones with little trouble (there was only a single die pair, and it shows many telltale diagnostics on both sides). A nice VF30 CERTIFIED (NGC or PCGS) genuine example of the 1937-D can be bought for about $700-$800, an XF40 $900-$1000. Give or take.
