So I got my 3rd box of halves (out of 5 ordered for this week) and a box of dimes.

    Halves - 2 x 1966 Kennedy's (40%er)
    Dimes - 1 x 1950 Rosie

and the ASE Silver for $1 buck. Even with 2 skunks on the halves it was a good day.

Also, have the kids this weekend and they are now officially hunters! Me and my 7 year old boy are heading out in the a.m. to go cash in and get more coins!

What a week I decided that after reading many post here I would order some boxes of halves and do some searching. Do you really find silver in boxes? REALLY! I searched 16 boxes yes that comes out to 16,000 coins and not a single silver peice not even a 40% I have to ask what is the deal I have been getting boxes that are rectangle in shape machine wrapped that are factory sealed so yes even if they have been searched I should be getting boxes with new coins and an ocassional strike. Well maybe you guys will let me know what you think as this is really seeming to be a waste of time thought it would be fun but to have fun you have to make some progress...

i would say go for it. Sounds like you just hit an awfullly bad spell. 16 in a row of skunks would definately be discouraging. But I say give it a shot until you atleast find some silver. Once you see that white edge coming out of a roll I think you'll be hooked. Maybe try some other banks. For some reason I seem to do better with the Brinks (short condensed boxes, not sure if these are Garda too???) better than the long rectangular String & Sons boxes. The SS boxes have been pretty bare for me the last few months.

Also you have to keep trying otherwise you'll have to change your name... :)

Made a couple stops today. Bank one was supposed to have a box of halves for me today but only had 10 bwr's. Will find out later what happened. Got one 40%. Bank two had 1 roll and some loose. Got one more 40%. 8 rolls of quarters produced a couple atb's that I didn't have yet. More to go through later.

16 Skunks in a row may be the thread record. Erin, what did you have a while back?

searched 20 rolls of canadian pennies and found about 80 American pennies in there. Nothing special though. There were a nice 2011 and 2010 American penny that look very good. I like the new design.

    Friday Report

Wasn't able to post the report yesterday.

    BWR H's: 100 rolls -> 1 x 90%, 2 x NIFC
    Box 1: 1 x 1964; 1 x NIFC
    Box 2: 1 x NIFC

    BWR D's: 100 rolls -> 4 x 90%
    Box 1: 2 x Roosie; 1 x Merc
    Box 2: 1 x Roosie

Just dragging without a car; no problem on getting boxes, just hard to dump to keep the cash flowing. :stormy:

Got some pics of oddities coming up soon...

Forgot to mention: Picked up my regular delivery of H's and D's last night; $250 box of BU 2011-D BWR's. Anyone interested? Send PM...

Also, I've been using those coin tube thingies with the funnel on top for speedy re-rolling; I'm only using the D and P units. Any nickel or quarter searchers interested in those? Send PM...

Had a great silver day today.

    I finished a box from yesterday and found 2 40%ers and 1 1964 90%er
I picked up another box: Skunk
    I found $72 (1 BWR, 6CWR and loose) and found 18 40%ers (including 17 in one roll :) )
To top it off, I spotted 2 silver dimes (Roosies) in a teller tray getting them at face.

    :) Total finds 1 90% half, 20 40% halves, 2 silver dimes.

:D I'll take that any day.

That beat my record... I had 15 full and part of another. My apologues "halfhunter". Maybe a new handle, "Skunkyboxer"?

Guys, you are not going to believe the last 26 ours of pure luck I have had....this mornings almost made me wet my pants. I have to run and help a wife's friend (He is in Lake Charles gambling) whose car died but I will be right back and post....

Okay....I'm sure Erin will blow us all away soon with what he has coming....

But I did get out today and do some bank hopping.
    1 partial box $400....skunk
    1st full box.....1 40%
    2nd full box....18 40%ers
    about $10 loose....all skunks

Oh yeah and got a full roll of Ike's. No silver, and I still need to check to see if any type II's.

That's all the good news. The bad news is my car died right before I was en route to the last bank that had the 2 full boxes. I almost didn't get there. Got a jump, but now I have to get my car in on Monday, hopefully nothing major!

    Brinks, Garda, SS

One more thing, the last bank I stopped at had 2 boxes. They were the short boxes with the halves stacked on top each other not like the rectangular SS boxes. Now I had been getting boxes like this from BOA that have black writing on the cardboard, these ones however had yellow writing on them kind of like the SS rectangular boxes. So I'm confused now...I'm not quite sure which are Brinks and which are Garda????

String & Sons = long rectangular box w/ yellow writing on the box, as well as yellow & paper on the rolls. The boxes themselves actually have String & Sons written on them.
Brinks = short boxes with black writing on the box and black & white paper on the rolls.
Garda = short boxes with yellow writing on the box and black & white paper on the rolls.

I'm not really sure about the last two. I guess all and all it doesn't really matter, I'm just curious. The last two do not have any writing on the boxes specifiying if they are infact Brinks or Garda.

Also for anyone in Chicago-land, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and anywhere else TCF Bank is at, if you are looking for Ikes you might want to ask there, as I know their coin-counting machines do not take them, so if someone comes to cash them in they have to cash them into the teller, un-like other coins which are just dumped into the coin-counting machine.

Out of curiosity, I just did my first searching ever. It was on pennies and nickels that I had rolled a few months ago.

    24 Nickel Rolls:
    1 1943 War Nickel
    2 Canadian Nickels (1965 & 1988)
    1 Bahamian Nickel
    1 Bermudian Nickel

    30 rolls of Pennies:
    257 Pre-1982 Copper
    33 1982 Pennies (I'll weigh those later)
    2 or 3 Wheat Cents
    3 Canadian Pennies

Not a great haul, but I did get a kick out of it when I found the war nickel (my first) in the 21st roll.
