It looks as if these coins are pretty badly toned. Do you think it is just the picture or are they on their way to the coin bone yard. I did email the seller and asked them but got no response...that alone may answer the question. Take a look see. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8397827277&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&rd=1
I'm not really sure that the coloration is just the result of toning - it might be the pics themselves. At least I certainly hope it's the pics. For if the pics are accurate, that is without a doubt the worst strike I have ever seen on the reverse of a Kennedy half. And given that the coin is a commem, I find that kind of hard to imagine.
There is definetely something wrong with the graphic as you can see the pixelation and rectangluar areas of lost image in that reverse on the Kennedy. It looks like someone tried to copy a JPEG from another JPEG in order to make it larger? Ruben
I think the sharpness or lack of sharpness has to do with imaging through the plastic holder. I just can't believe the amount of brown coloring at the top of the commem. It almost looks like corrosion but I think it is a combination of distortion from the plastic and toning or bad lighting. I don't much care about the commem but I would think the Kennedy if it were in decent shape. They normally sell for about 250-350 dollars in good condition. The top bid today for the set is 53 dollars with only 14 hours left in the auction.
