I sent in a Mercury dime through NCS to NGC as "Express" tier that should grade at a high level. After almost two weeks at NCS, it transitioned to NGC. After 2 days at NGC as "Scheduled for Grading", it went into "Quality Control" and I assumed it had been graded and I'd soon get to see the grade online. After two days in Quality Control and waiting for shipping, it is now back to being "Scheduled for Grading" again. Anyone familiar with the process and have thoughts as to what would cause this? Quality reps caught a mistake on label and it goes through the process again? Sigh.. Thanks, Scott
The reason could be due to anything, but the best way to get an accurate answer to your question is to just call NGC and ask them.
I have had that happen with coins from NCS-NGC... It's usually when they find an error in your order on their end. They are usually pretty quick to get it fixed.
It can also happen if the finalizer doesn't agree on the grade or something else, it gets bounced back for the graders to take another look.
Several reasons possible. They may have found a scratch on the holder, a holder form error, the graders may have disagreed, the entry clerk may have just entered it in the computer by mistake. They are extremely busy right now, and running behind, waaay behind! My Peace sat on Quality Control for over a week! It shipped out last Monday registered, and USPS still only shows that they received it. Registered mail is also like a snail. Good Luck! Chuck
Well, it showed up as Finalized/Shipped and a bit lower than I expected (62 vs 65+). Have to wait for the snail to bring it back so I can see what it looks like after NCS and hope that the error that QC fixed wasn't an error. Thanks for the thoughts. Scott
