Got some sad news today... my manager is being transferred in one week. He is also a coin collector and has given me a few coins in the last few months. I want to get him a going away gift and I want it to be a coin. Any good ideas for around $10 or less?...
I was thinking about just a single coin... He's in his mid forties. If you have other ideas though, you can still say them because I'd be willing to go higher.

How about a copper-nickel Indian Head cent? Or maybe some higher grade Buffalo nickel from the teens? For example, Coin World lists a retail value of $12 or less for a 1915, 1916, 1917, or 1919 Buffalo nickel in VF (that is, most of the horn is showing).
You might be able to get him a proof set of his birth year, but I would imagine he already has that. I'm not sure what they go for at the moment, but if it was me you could make me happy with a walking liberty half. You should be able to pick up a nice coin for, well I can get then for $15 but that is more then you want to spend. Do you know what he likes? You can get some nice late Franklins or first year Kennedy half's for around that price. Try to find out something he doesn't have a go to a dealer and drive a hard bargain on one. You can get some nice Mercury dimes he might not have.
